Director of Operations

As a leader in event operations and business management in the arts and festivals industry, Sarah pairs systematic data-driven processes, with creative problem solving, and empathetic leadership, to empower teams, and support sustainable growth and innovation. Her career has spanned producing, event management, production coordination, festival logistics, ticketing and data management, and business systems development.

Sarah is passionate about fostering collaborative environments where emerging artists and arts workers are supported to embrace their ambitions and pursue their visions, and where success is shared and celebrated. She champions workforce safety, mental health, and wellbeing, and has led strategic initiatives, written and implemented policy, and facilitated training to support safety, accessibility, and diversity, and has recently joined the Advisory Board for Hey Mate, a social enterprise providing mental health and wellbeing services to the arts industry.

Sarah holds a dual Bachelor Degree in Business Management and Creative Arts, and is a believer in life-long learning with an interest in digital systems and database management and the way low-code software solutions can empower businesses. In this area, Sarah is known for her expertise in developing bespoke business systems with a focus on efficiency, data integrity, and intuitive process design, and has provided consulting to other arts festivals and small businesses.

Having worked with artists across a range of creative practices, Sarah is particularly passionate about live performance, contemporary music, and the ethos of discovery, connection, and community that arts festivals can foster. She is an avid gig-goer and supporter of the local music scene and has never missed a BIGSOUND.
